What is digital mammography used for?
Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, also known as 3D mammography, is an FDA-approved method for breast cancer screening in which x-rays of the breast are taken at different angles to generate thin cross-sections. The 3D representation of the breast is similar to the 3d images created by standard CT technology.
What is the procedure of digital mammography?
The method of getting mammogram images is the same for both types. A technician positions your breast between two plates, and flattens and compresses it. They then takes images of your breast from top to bottom and side to side.
